Angel's Egg is a strange movie. Strange in that there's no conversation, in that the only character (and thus the main character) is a little girl, alone in a big world, running around with a strange egg. The movie title hints that it's the egg of an angel, is it?
In the world around her there's not a soul, at least that's how it starts out (is that some kind of symbolism?), but with time one more character appears, and he joins her in her quest across an abandoned world, buildings still standing, as if time was frozen only for its inhabitants. The movie features a timeless cityscape laid to waste, not by war but by time. Strange monuments rise towards the sky and a tale is told of the world, of origin, and the unknown future. The movie is very atmospheric, it moves at a slow pace, but it's both captivating and inspiring, and sad.
Mentioning that it's an anime classic isn't a reason needed to watch it, in it's own mysterious way it's a great movie. Here's a few previewable pictures before the score.

Seen enough? If you haven't, go watch it. I for one like movies like this, that move at a pace of their own, that put more detail in the atmosphere than in the characters within it, and yet they remain the primary focus. Good viewing.
