That’s Enough Oni

I didn't think I'd ever tire of this game, but I suppose if you do anything too much, even if it's fun, it will get tiring. Like eating, eat too much, get fat, get tired of eating. Not that I've ever been tired of eating, but I'm trying to make a point here so don't let that bother you!

The fact is that I've played enough Oni to last me the rest of the year, probably. If that isn't the case I'll still stay away from the game for the rest of the year because there's a limit to how much you can play a game before, well, let's just say I should be doing other things than playing Oni all day.

So, during my long time of playing the game I've collected around 30GB worth of video material, and though the playing the game is over I do plan on doing something with all this video. Something like a walkthrough, or a music video; probably both since I have such a ridiculously large amount of leftover material.

Obviously the best moments were left uncaptured though, that's just the way it is. When I'm a millisecond away from getting knocked of a ledge and manage to kick off two bad guys instead I'm not recording, that's just the way it is. Another way it is is that when I do record, especially when I'm trying to play through the game without dying and get it all on video, I tend to be a bit more careful, resulting in the not-so-amazing combos as I usually get while playing, not the same gun-run-have-fun style of play... but enough about that.

Now, time to eat, sleep and get up early tomorrow cause I'm going on a cruise.

Advanced Wars 2 – Got Gold

Remember this post? Yeah, I know, how could you forget? Well, I managed to get gold, finally. All the menus, everything, and it was easy but it took a shitload of time. I don't play the game nearly as much as I did earlier but every once in a while it's fun to pick up for a quick battle against the computer. I may not be very strategical, I just go straight-on, bashing the enemy as best I can with as heavy artillery as I can get and never any distance weapons.

While it does seem like a great strategy since I did beat the game with a perfect overall score and have no trouble beat computer-powered enemies when the odds are three against one, it might be not because I have good strategy, but because I've learned the pattern. The computers can only perform in so many ways.

I stay close to port with a bomber to sink their ships to make them lose money quickly, knowing they will produce ships even if they don't have anything to sink my plane. I sometimes capture the HQ without blocking all routes to attack knowing that they won't leave a base with a very injured unit, even when their HQ is at stake. I sometimes lure the enemy in by moving some infantry within their attack lines, because I know they'll attack the infantry without regard to the wall of tanks behind it. It's small details like these that make me wonder if I really play based on strategy, or if I just know how the computer will play good enough to beat it, but in a way that too is strategy.

Anyhow, the point of this post is that I got gold, and that's a mighty amazing achievement. Wooyeah! ;)

GameBoy Wars – The Great Predecessor

Advanced Wars is a sequel. To what? Gameboy Wars! There's Gameboy Wars Turbo too. I didn't know this, but now I do, and I absolutely must get a hold of these olden goldies. They seem pretty rare...

Advanced Wars 2 – Getting Gold

I think I'm addicted.

You get gold for every section of the game you complete, and I have gold on all sections except Versus. That's to expect though, since the Versus mode has over a hundred maps, most of them for 3 or 4p (meaning they take time). But, I'm going through them loike crazy, and I expect to attain the Gold Mode some time soon. Anyone else out there achieved this peak of perfection yet? It obviously takes a lot of work to get there (if you can call playing a game work). Time for another level...
