I seek nothing further
Than I found on the floor
I saw red dead and murder
As I've seen so much before
I've seen it in movies and on TV
I've seen it in games and potpourri
I've read it in books and heard it cry
Outside my window one lonely night
Yet I have never seen it here
In my living room where I stand
And at the center solemnly stare
And at the corpse that now lies there
Yet this room is all but living
It has given in to proper demand
A murder for each one shilling
That falls from an innocent hand
We stay still to keep thrilling
The sequences that they shoot
Who shot? Who grabbed the loot?
But I am but assistant, singular substitute
I see the allseeing eyes, through my meager soul
I see the allseeing eyes, and they do guide me home
Then to all my surprise, they slowly rise and roam
Over to the little tiny speck of dust that is me
I sat nothing further
Than I planned to say
I saw red dead and murder
And only that this day
I've heard it on radio and 6 o-clock news
I've heard when the neighbours let their dogs lose
I've read it in books but I still cannot chose
Over the bundle or bride
And I have never been here before
In this living room where I stand
And at the gentlemen soulfully stare
And give in to proper demand
A murder is just a killing
Grip lost of a thoughtless soul
A murder is just a killing
Yet the murder will swallow you whole
I seek the allseeing eyes, that snatch the air from my throat
I seek the allseeing eyes, that grasp that space so I choke
I see the allseeing eyes, all seeing yet unwise
And I laugh inside myself, for all that I despise
Despite these sublime lies
I leave the law alone
And walk the cold way home
With the rest of me, intact
