 Review
It is an age of war. In the chaotic world travels a lone senshi - 16 year old Tendo Rusyuna.
She is kind, beautiful, blond and has a big bossom. Her ultimate battle strategy is to eliminate the enemies will to fight by embracing them. She shreds the armor from her enemies with both her skills as senshi and the art of seduction and sex appeal. On a battlefield she meets Yajiro Kojima and together they continue their travels. Yajiro Kojima is a mercenary. He was previously a member of the rebel army, but after his entire team had been wiped out in an ambush he started fighting only for himself. Rusynua helps him on a mission in which he is on the losing side. Amazed and baffled about Rusyunas skills and odd personality he joins her on her travels to free the world from hate and evil.
On the journey they learn much and have many different adventures. They make many friends, and also enemies, but enemies don't stay unfriendly for long with Rusyuna around. Bits and pieces of Yajiros past are puzzled together as they move along and after a bounty is placed on Rusyuna by the person she serves, they both head to the capitol in order to learn the truth about it all.
The plot takes place in a warntorn country, with many similarities to oldskool Japan. The animation is rather simple, but very stylish, and the scenery as well as cahracters and events that take place are very varied. The soundtrack that comes with the animation is stunning, and helps build up the tension and suspense. It's a short yet addicting series, you won't be able to watch one episode without wanting to see the next one. This is one of those animes that could have become as big as Naruto or DBZ, split into a few hundred episodes with an extended plot that's built upon as time passed. I'm glad they didn't do so though, the series is short and intense. It can easily be watched through in a day, but it's a bit sad when it's all over. It would have been nice following the characters for some more time, at least another 12 episodes.
The genre is both Comedy and Tragedy, with lots of action inbetween and many mixed emotions. It's a unique series, not like the other hundreds of animes about Samurai, Gundams and Romance produced yearly. The story is easy to follow and understand, yet there is much meaning in it. I definatly reccomend you watch this.
Interesting
- In the first episode, which notes several times that Rushuna's gun only holds six bullets, at one point she shoots seven in a row without reloading.
- Her nation's ideal of dissolving an enemy's will to fight with a smile and attempting to win a battle without combat is similar to Sun Tzu's quote "Hence to fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.".
