Indenting, Word

This morning I spent maybe fifteen minutes trying to keep an indent in Microsoft word 2007 from affecting an entire page, it seemed impossible. I changed the format of the surrounding blocks of text, I tried to change the format of the empty lines in between the sections. I tried to use tab instead of the indent button, I searched through the help manual, I searched Google, I tried to copy and paste the contents from the current document into a new one. Finally, I created new spaces, this time full paragraph breaks instead of smaller line breaks, and everything worked fine. The problem is that I don't want the paragraph break, I want a slightly larger space, and without modifying the structure of the entire document or creating a new style specifically for these spaces, regular line breaks are the only way to do it. Summing up, I seem to have found a major fault in Microsoft's efficiency plan!

Nobody has spoken.
