System Restore, Once More!

I was messing around with the system registry files yesterday, trying to speed up the computer as much as possible. Not that it's slow, no, still blazing fast, but I thought I might as well optimize it till the verge of perfection before creating a system restore point. So, if I ever have to restore the system, everything will already be done and I won't need to worry about abundant registry items and other useless files and stuff.

So anyhow, I did a lot of other things yesterday, then I shut down the computer, no problemo, and today when I start it, guess what, some files are missing. Since I hadn't created a system restore point, I couldn't restore the system. I couldn't reach my desktop either to back up my files, and I couldn't reset the computer to factory settings with the existing files backed up since I have already collected too much stuff on the hard drive, thus, the only option was just wiping the whole drive clean and starting a new. Lucky me the old computer still works, even luckier is the fact that I didn't remove the moved files from the old computer, so apart from about two weeks of installing/uninstalling programs/games and writing a few new poems/blogs/etc, everything is backed up.

I have backups of important items, such as photos, source files, website files, etc, on a couple of external drives too, so no serious harm was done, but it's still ironic. I know one thing for certain though, I won't be shutting down the computer today before I have all files backed up and a system restore point created, that's a certainty, certainly. Yeah, it's a day of possibility wasted doing stuff I've already done, but at least it's a clean start, I won't get carried away and start installing all kinds of new programs and trying new things and experimenting with new games and stuff, and all the downloads in progress on the other installation are gone, so I won't need to think about them.

All the registry keys I need to get rid of haven't been added yet, so, it's not a so bad situation, I'll get everything organized today, on this computer, on the old computer, on all my external drives, and then that shit is out of my mind so I can focus on the tasks at hand, and I know that will be dandy. Good night peoples!
