Media Monkey Testrun
Media Monkey is a program that helps you organize and search through large collections of music.
I really have a large collection of music, so I thought that maybe this program could help me get things nice and tidy. It took a day and a half to get the music indexed, and that wasn't even all of it, that was just the part I have sorted out some myself. During the indexing process I did give the program top priority, still it didn't run more than what seemed like two or three tracks each second, which is a bit slower than desired.
Once everything was indexed I decided to fix my tags, all of them at once. The program crashed.
It booted up quickly though, and I tried again - this time with a selected chunk of files (not more than a few thousand). I tried tagging by filename and info first, but that didn't work so well, some artists received track titles as names and some didn't get any new tags at all. I tried tagging through the net, but it seems the program could only fetch tags for one album at a time, and at a pace like that it would be faster to re-tag everything without the program, or maybe with a better program.
I explored the playlist and music player features and though they all work fine and the search is pretty quick, it doesn't seem like this is what I'm looking for. It's not a program suited to manage a large music collection. Windows built-in explorer does that task just fine. It's more like a replacement for Winamp, a music player for those that want to have all their files in the playlist at once, something like Foobar 2000, and I already have Foobar 2000... which I should add is both faster and easier to use than this one. Shame.
This isn't the program for me.
Balance Quickplay
Balance is a game in which you try to keep your balance. Duh.
I played it yesterday, thought about putting together a complete FAQ for it, but I didn't have the patience to run through all levels so that FAQ you'll have to fetch from someone else. Actually the levels started getting too complex to any longer be entertaining, though still easy to complete they require time, a currency I do not have the leisure of spending too much of. I'm not the kind of person who enjoys spending minutes on each level trying to position objects correctly anyway, so, here's a bunch of screens from the first five levels. For those interested in precision, this is a great game, simple controls, soothing music, good graphics... recommended.

Resident Evil 5 Quickplay
I loved Resident Evil 4, not to speak about the other legendary RE games, so how about the sequel? Was it any good? I was going to try it out today and leave a full review, but I won't be doing so.
Why?
Well, I bought the game, installed it & started playing, and noticed that my computer isn't good enough for the game. It lags hellishly. No problems with space or RAM, the processors are great too, it's the graphic/video cards that are lacking. So, I uninstalled the game and will let it rest until the day comes when I either buy a new box or upgrade this one.
My first impression of the game was positive though, easy menus, good controls & what seems to be a good storyline as well. I've read some critique that Shiva keeps following you through the game, and we all know the traditional RE creepiness lies in the lonely soldier partition of the game. I haven't played very far so I won't comment on that, but overall I did like the mysterious entry in RE4 more than this one, there are too many people, not the same isolation factor as in the previous game. Still, the graphics look much better and the storyline is promising, that's as far as this review goes. On a completely unrelated note, it's amusing that CAPCOM have used the same directory structure for the whole series, still with the RESIDENT EVIL folder -all in capitol letters. Wonder if it's to keep the series a series, or because it's practical in some way?
Looking forward to getting a better taste of this game sooner or later.
Machete (2010)
Maybe you saw the Grindhouse movie Planet Terror a few years ago? Maybe you paid attention to the promising fake trailer at the start of the movie? It wasn't planned to be, but it did become, which is both amazing and not strange since the fake trailer was pretty much the best part of the Planet Terror movie... and the movie was good too.
Danny Trejo acts out his first leading roll in this film after having been in the business for a whole lot of years. Sure took enough time, he's 66 years old already! Though Danny isn't any great actor, he fits perfectly into his roll and I'd love to see him leading more movies in the future, there aren't many figures as naturally rough and menacing as he is.
