AfterMath Of The HeadSmash

Some of you regular visitors may remember that time a while back (two weeks) when I was rendered unconscious in the shower for a few seconds and managed to smash my head on a nearby toilet seat, a chain of unfortunate events that led me to a bed at a nearby hospital and a pretty heavy concussion (in reverse order).

The symptoms of this dramatic adventure have since about a week back worn off, and I feel great... in fact I feel much better than before I smashed my head, probably because I'm just really happy to be feeling like I'm used to feeling again. I went to get the stitches removed on Monday, and since then I've been shopping like crazy, mostly for Christmas, but also 81 comic books for myself to keep me up late at night when the snow piles high in the barren winter landscapes outside.

I went to my first Actupuncutral session ever on Tuesday, which was an interesting event. I should note that it wasn't my own initiative, I wouldn't pay for any form of therapy myself if it wasn't absolutely undeniable needed, which it wasn't. So anyhow, it wasn't as painful as I expected it to be (didn't feel much at all), didn't leave any marks except a noticeable relief of tension. I used to have a phobia for needles, but that all went away at the hospital when they sampled my blood and attached plastic tubes to my veins while I was still in a daze, unable and not interested in/to protest(ing) against their horrific act of research. Now I've lost my acupuntural phobia too, though I do prefer massage in terms of relaxation methods.

Went to visit Bear on Wednesday, Andreas on Friday, David on Saturday & this Sunday I'm working ferociously on updating the site(s) after a long refreshing walk in the temporarily sunny winter world outside. Thursday? I was insanely tired, went to sleep at seven. Have a great weekend peoples!

Now I Know

The world is big
Bigger than I thought
The world could be
But now I know

The world is big
Bigger than I wished
This world would be
But now I know

How small I am
Yet bigger than the world
The world is me
And now I know

How small it is
Smaller than an ant
This world is me
Now I know

Blogging Stock Image Overload

I do frequent a few blogs other than my own, and I stumble upon many new ones every so often, some of them interesting, most of them only temporarily so.

One of the things I've noted that blogs I don't bookmark have in common is (except for content that doesn't interest me) their over-abusive use of stock images. Every blog post has an image, and sometimes not only just one per blog, but at least one image between each section of text. Undeniably images communicate much easier than words, and can be used to both give better impact to the text itself or convey a message of its own, but when the pictures aren't relevant to the post at all the communication doesn't work right.

A picture of a man with a briefcase in a blog about how to make money quickly may seem relevant, but if these pictures are continuously used within different contexts they start losing their value. If the same type of image is used within different types of blogs within the same context it loses it's value; when there's an image in each post, then each image doesn't have the same impact as it would if they were rarer. What I'm trying to say is that too much of any form of media, images included, take away the general benefit. If I were to post images in every post here, many images would go by unnoticed, with fewer images each one breaks out easily in the much larger flow of words.

If I visit a photoblog, or read guides, comics & other things were images are commonly used I don't mind the images at all, they are the focus, in fact I prefer blogs with more images than text. I'd do the same if I had a lot of images to post, but I don't, I'm a writer and thus you'll find for the most part only text in my blogs. So what am I saying? I don't like filler images, images posted without purpose, images that weren't created for a specific blog post or images that the blog post isn't about. In an art blog, the picture should be the focus, in a regular blog the picture should be relevant to the post. The picture shouldn't just be added for the sake of adding a picture. Kapish?

Really really simple placeholder page thrown together in great haste for a page I started working on without really having time to work on it. The page stayed up for a way too long time despite all the obvious flaws of production. It's not much to look at. :)

My buddy Avery started offering free webhosting so I designed this. The service revolved around a SimpleMachines powered community, this was just a front page for it.

This is a quick layout created for a university assignment. Contact form isn't functional, but the flash games included (not made by me) work fine, they're all hand-picked and addicting so give them a shot if you have some leftover time. ;) Text in in Swedish.
