Not A Snowy Day

Sounds like the logical sequel, doesn't it? ;)

Today everything is melting! The whole world of winter id withering away right before my weary eyes. I was fortunate to plan in a long 20km walk on Friday before the weather turned for worse though, the snow still coated the ground, yet the sun was blazing and the wind was still. The warmth was amazing. I walked maybe a forth of the way with just a t-shirt on and sleeves rolled up as high as they would go. Felt like a short preview of summer. I met up with a cousin of mine halfway through, walked until the sun sank down and thick fog rolled in.

Otherwise I've spent the weekend playing Pokemon & Minigolf, first solo second multiplayer, and now it's time for studies soon due. Thought I had a fullday headache yesterday but I managed to evade it, ate fresh baked bread for breakfast lunch and dinner. :) Today a good day to sit inside, even though it's Sunday, the world is like a shallow Slushie right now, but a tasteless one. Did this sound run-on? You better read it write. Have a better weekend!

What A Snowy Day

Woke up. Shock. Snow glazed the window. Snow piled high by the roadside. Snow drifted thick on the walkway. Snow coated the ground like two hundred cubic squares of forgotten cotton.

Took a morning walk as a human snow shovel, plowed through the snow at a steady pace, came home soaked as if I had jumped in a swimming pool. Drank some warm chocolate. Changed clothes. Who needs gym when there's winter? Who needs sun when there's snow? Who needs... yeah, you get the pointy point. More like fuzzy as the clouds seem. Today is great. :)

There's Another Post

Say what? Or where? On CyberD, it is clear! As the sky, as the air! There's a post, it is here. So what am I going to post about today? I'm posting because I haven't posted in a while. Reason: being busy. Solution: for a moment forgetting the workload and relaxing by a blazing screen with a cold cup of tea and a broken light-bulb in the ceiling. Maybe it's not broken, maybe it's just not turned on, but with such a vivid imagination as mine everything is possible.

So apart from the post and the other and then some... I haven't posted in a week! Why's that? Well for the most part I've been enjoying my brand new Nintendo DS... err, I mean I've been studying... for the most part.

Apart from the three games presented a while back I am now the proud owner of an additional two. Trackmania DS & Worms Open Warfare. Trackmania DS is a great game, albeit a bit glitchy. Worms Open Warfare sucks. The controls are decent, yet the playability is seriously lacking, not to mention the graphics. On my old GBA version Team 17 had pushed the graphical capabilities as far as they could go, and included an amazing amount of gameplay in a tiny package. In this game, there's less than there was in the GBA version. The random map generator may be a bit improved, but that's about it, not even the blast dynamics work like they should work. I should be fair though, and play the game for more than a couple of minutes before I give a final verdict. Maybe I missed something. Maybe there is still hope.

As for Trackmania though, it's a game I highly recommend. With around 150 unique tracks (it's not just a port from some other console, they're all new) and the ability to make your own... and play against other people... both on the same console or between consoles, either with one or two game cartridges... the game really delivers. There's a shop to buy stuff from the coppers you get when you win races. There's a puzzle mode, platform mode & of course the regular racing mode. There's three varied driving environments (as opposed to 6 on the computer version, but half is not bad) and eh... yeah, it's a great game.

What else? I spent half the weekend with buddy Bear in Norrtälje. They had some trouble with cool sewer pipes... I mean they were iced shut... so not all modern commodities were fully functional. The bathroom for one. It was a fun end of the week anyway; I had the chance to try out the multiplayer finesses of my brand new Nintendo DS, play some Wiiiii, watch a Moviiiiiie, take a walk, eat great food. Good times.

Now a new week is here and I'm back in my lair with attacks of despair in the air the new year! Is flying away, yupp, gotta get back to studying now. Later.

Here's Yet Another Post

Here it is.

Three Reviews 15

I watched a few movies that weren't too great recently. They're not worthy of a one review post each, so I suppose it's time to revive the old Three Reviews series I used to be posting in ancient times.

Courageous (2011)

Courageous is the story of 3-4 police officers and a Mexican worker. It's mostly a drama about their struggles within and without the job and how fate steps in and gives them a shot, and about the brave things they do. The brave things they do are not at all as brave as the things regular action heroes do, this is more like a fictional documentary-style drama movie and though there are 3-4 chases there's only one real chase that ends in a shootout. Though you might say it's realistic and personal and down-to-earth, it just isn't my type of movie. Too much talk, too little action, so I'll give it a

Arena (2011)

Arena is another take on the plotline in the movie Gamer. Not exactly the same, but similar. Nobody's controlling the characters that do battle, but they're not doing it of free will either, so it's pretty much the same. The movie features a few fights, bloody, filmed in a way that they look taken straight from a videogame. Weaponry and costumes are important things, but overall it's just a sad movie. Not sad as in I almost cry movie, but sad as in there's nothing positive about it. The action is slow and brutal, without any real stunts to liven it up. There's a lot of blood, a lot of pained expressions, a lot of viewers grimacing or laughing or making a O face. I'm sure they put a lot of money into this film and a lot of people like it, but movies like this are just crap. The plot is ok, the acting is ok, Samuel Jacksson is in the movie, but it'
s just a piece of crap. It's not that I dislike violence in movies, or violence that tries to be stylish (thin 300 or Equilibrium), but this just doesn't reach me. It's not stylish, it's not emotional, it's not heavy, it's just a sad crappy movie.

Inside Slade - The Singles 1971-1991 (2004)

Slade is a band I've known about for some time that most people I talk to about it don't seem to know about. They've made a lot of rock music. It's rhythmical, it has catchy refrains, and it makes you happy. All their songs are great, I love the band, but this documentary was a disappointment. I had looked forward to seeing a lot of footage of the band, live performances or music videos or whatever, as long as I could see the band and hear their music at the same time. I've only heard them on tape previously (yeah, tape, oldschool) and I was hoping this would give me an image to sync with the music. What I did get was a whole lot of talking on how and why the band was great and how they tried to reach out to different audiences or change their musical style and yada yada. Sure, for a fan there's a lot of interesting things being said, but there's way too little music. There are previews of the different singles, but they never let you hear a whole one, and they're all bad quality, there's nothing new, you'll find better footage on YouTube than in this documentary. Disappointing.
