Musical Nostalgia

Been a while since I posted some good music videos here. I felt nostalgic today so I dug up a few that I used to listen to as a kid, had to search on lyrics for some of them since I didn't know the artist or song names... and most of the music videos are as new to me as they might be to you!

You remember them days when all you heard was on the radio or by song of mouth? Them days...

Maná - Oye Mi Amor - I listened to a lot of Maná during our years in Costa Rica. Don't know how I heard these songs since most of them are apparently from the 1992 album ¿Dónde Jugarán los Niños?, and we lived there in 1999... maybe they were well-known classics. I'm usually not much for cheesy love songs, but in Latin America they make them a different way, they make them: good. :P

Mana - Angel De Amor

Smash Mouth - All Star - Back in 1999 or somewhere around that time, this track was one of my favorites... though I'm a bit ashamed to admit it now (pretty cool video though). :P I have the tape stashed away too.

Planes (2013)

Planes (2013)

So I finally got around to watching this movie! I loved Cars, but... this? It's just following the same old trail. After watching Turbo it feels like it's all the same game, it's all about unlikely people/critters/vehicles wanting to be racers, and Turbo was much more unlikely, not to mention with a bigger underdog of a main character. It's not even a competition between the two.

I definitely like Cars more like Planes. Do I like cars more than planes? Maybe, but I think the thing is that there can only be one classic; plenty of sequels. Even if it's a new perspective, this is definitely not that classic. It's basically Cars all over again, with a few differences like... how Mater's already present from the start (and of course the characters all look different, have different names and are voiced by other people). It's a repeat in all other ways, the mentor, the training, the getting lost along the way, the getting deceived, the making a comeback, the romance... if you've watched Cars you already know the plot. The visuals are new though, so props for propellers, and sky soaring never gets boring. It wasn't particularly innovative, but it was a good movie. Boats next?

Charlie's Angels 2 - Full Throttle (2003)

Charlie's Angels - Full Throttle (2003)

As with most sequels, this one doesn't match up to the original. It's not a bad movie per say, but it doesn't have that special something new to offer. It does have new villains, some new friendlies (of which some also turn out to be villains) and plenty of speed. Plenty of action. Plenty of romance (almost too much plenty). And three hot chicks as main characters, so what could go wrong? Well in the plot, it's a lot, but as a movie it was a good watch.

If you liked the original, this'll be like an extension pack, worth pro-longing the experience with.

Btw, just realized that the cover shows their B-side... it's a truthful interpretation of the movie. :P

Charlie's Angels (2000)

Charlie's Angels (2000)

Charlie's Angles are a lethal bunch of chicks (kinda like the L.E.T.H.A.L. chicks... but better actors), working for a secret government agency, for a mysterious person named Charlie (who gives them assignments through radio, and is never seen), meet a bunch of dangerous foes, get knocked down but get up again (Chumbawamba reference if you didn't know it) and kick a ton of butt. There's martial arts (Lucy Liu even contributes some authenticity), love, light-hearted comedy and plenty of action.

It's also apparently based on a TV series with the same name that ran from 1976-1981... and started again in 2011. I haven't seen the TV show(s), but I'm tempted to, they might be fun! This movie certainly was. If you want a comparison btw, D.O.A. was waaaaay better.

Early First

For a change
I think I'll write a poem first
The first thing I'll do
Is right a poem

I'm sitting down
With a bowl of muesli perched
On my chair for the best
Of the worst like the merch

That I ordered

My first thought is write a song
It's like a Pomegranate
That shit is automatic
When I think of words

That sound to be me a bit strange
I want a bitcoin, but that's complicated
And how I vex, when I think of living
A life that's too complex

I just want to give in

But I think about giving things
I think about a world that's free
Where everything just works
To the benefit of me

Higher living indeed
Breathing the wind and leaning free
In the ocean is the view
In this potion is my need

No commotion ails my greed

But I hail the world
It's still winter now
Still it's solid ground
Under grimy snow

And I know
That someday I will build with sound
Something so profound
That you won't ever know

Here's an early first

Here's a poem for the day
For the day that's yet to come
That has yet to whisk away
And lately

I've been waking daily feeling gray
But not today, today I'm great
Today the room is icy when I wake
But I wake up quick, I don't wake up

Late

Brrr Morning

9°C in my room this morning.
