Starship Rising (2014)
Starship One - the most powerful warship in the Federation, capable of destroying entire worlds. When the order is given to destroy the Earth, Flight Lieutenant John Worthy mutineers Starship One and takes on the might of the Federation.
What a passion project this must've been! The sets are legit, ships elaborate, sceneries dystopian, but unfortunately... it sucks.
The dialog's drawn out and forced - for the most part, the special effects are crap, the duration of the movie pretty much all takes place in enclosed spaces and in either narrative or scheming between the various people within the fractions that face off against each other, and they shoot it off and fly off towards the stars... sort of.
A+ for effort, and for a moment my hopes rose a bit when they came to the white base, and it seemed the budget might be getting a lift, but when it's over... nah, it just wasn't the best way to spend a couple hours this one.
Better watch one of the somewhat disappointing but still comparatively so much better Starship Trooper sequels instead.
rated 2.5/5: almost not bad
