Anthony Zimmer (2005)

France, man... the movies they make.

This was great. The intrigue. The sights. The romance - as if by chance - maybe by choice - maybe more by choice than you would've chanced...

It's not the most action-heavy cops and robbers thriller, but it is charismatic and clever. It's lavish. It's ravishing. It's exciting. It's slow when it need be and fast when it matters, and the bruises Yvan Attal had after the fall down the stairs looked surprisingly real.

I feel like I've seen this movie before, but maybe I just recognize the style.

Maybe I've watched something else by the same director. The big con movie? The one with Jean Reno? I've definitely seen some of the same actors before. But this... is not at all as comical as that one was.

This one apparently inspired The Tourist (2010) too.

Or rather it was remade as that.

I don't know about the new one but this one was great. Really. Loved it.
