Beware Of A Holy Whore (1971)

On a film set there are two things missing, the film material and the director. So the actors and actresses as well as the crew try to make the best out of the situation. When the director arrives the material is still missing and so they still wait and try to make the best out of the situation. When the material finally arrives all folks involved into the film find themselves in a weird situation. Jealousy, competition and despair are ruling. Nobody seems to be able to break through this atmosphere, so they all still try to make the best out of the situation, but this is probably not the way to finish the film.

So... I guess that sums it up. It's artsy and old. A movie where everyone has a tan, a good face, and clothes in natural fabrics. I envy the times, but not so much the pace. It's slow and lethargic, and thus this review is riddled with punctuation. Like the movie flows.

Things quickly spiral out of control on the set, and between the characters, but doesn't really manage to keep my interest, and at the end not much has happened. The qualms of slow movie production seems very contradictory to the often rushed and stressful tribulations you face with productions now - or maybe it really is a bit like this, often, in between the action and stress? Not with the intrigue per say, but with the pace.

Apparently, it's a movie inspired by the production cycle for Whity earlier the same year, but I'm not sure I'll be seeing that one. This was... okay. Not really what I expected, though I'm not sure what I did expect.

 rated 2/5: decent
