I found Return to Castle Wolfenstein in a game shop yesterday, for a price of almost nothing at all! There was a minor thing missing in the game, a CD Key, which would for a lot of people be truly fatal and they wouldn't be able to play the game. Luckily I know it's not hard to find a CD Key on the Internet, so I am now fully enjoying the great game I bought for the price of a piece of plain paper.

I watched a program on TV where some smart researchers were taking about the positive effects that file sharing has on society, such as people buying more music and discovering otherwise completely unknown artists. A pretty late discovery, since the news has been up on PiratByrån's site in a few years now. I guess for people who don't share files to discover the positive effects it has on society is like climbing the Himalayas after eating 800 grams of potato chips and drinking 4 big bottles of Mirinda every day in 4 weeks without moving 3 centimeters from the couch.

Early 2007 the first 10,000 customers will be able to enjoy their 1000MB connections, at first they will have to pay about 1100KR ($120) a month but since the net is open and therefore invites competing ISP's the prices will drop dramatically in the first year. Sweden was first with 10MB And 100MB connections and will be first again with the 1000MB connection. Sweden continues to be the world leader! :D

At first the connections will only be available in Lund, but it will soon spread around the whole country. Isn't Sweden great? :D

Josh made a bet with his friends over 20 cartons of beer ($1000 dollars worth) that he would be able to achieve the impossible and get over one billion visits on a site. Since there are only a little over 1 billion people who have ever visited the net he has set up a system counting hourly page views using IP and cookies (each visitor per hour counts as 1 view) instead of unique visitors.

UPD: Site is down since a while back. Did he ever get a billion views? I don't know, last time I checked he was past ten million, but it's a long way from there... The site turned into a little entertainment portal to lure in visitors, viral media, jokes, etcetc. Doesn't seem like it made it very far though.

It turns out he died November 12, 1916 and was under his lifetime particularly interested in Korea and Japan. His sister was a well-known Imagist poet and critic and he moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in 1894. Which was a great place for astronomical observations, which by a coincidence was just the reason he moved there! These are the most interesting points of his life and you can read more if you are interested at Wikipedia!

The reason I am mentioning this maybe in Arizona or the US well-known man is that todays google logo, after some intense research was apparently dedicated to him. On a completely unrelated side note today is his birthday. So happy birthday Percival!
