Oh, I've seen this one before! I just hadn't reviewed it, apparently...
It's the story of a criminal, played by Martin Lawerence (Will Smith's partner in Bad Boys, you know?), who's one day betrayed mid-heist, escapes, hides a diamond in a construction site, spends two years in jail and *time skip* is released, strolls right back to the construction site and realizes, much to his utter and horrible dismay, that it's been built into a police station!
So, he goes undercover... as a cop, and he does a better job than most of his colleges. Every time he's about to get the diamond and get out of there, something comes in the way, and suddenly he's chasing down a gang of dangerous thugs and teaching his young and unexperienced partner what it means to be a police.
It's a good movie, though I wish someone else played the main character. I have nothing against Martin Lawerence per say, but it feels like he just doesn't have that main character charisma, the one required for you to want to watch a movie with a certain character constantly the center of attention. Her was perfect in the Bad Boys duo, but here he stands out like a comedian at a funeral. Well, maybe not that much, but he stands out. Or maybe he just goes overboard with the comedy, because if all I'd seen was the final chase scene I probably wouldn't have written this paragraph at all. The ending was awesome.
It's a good movie, but it could've been better!
