20 years since the last Dumb & Dumber movie! I never even considered a sequel, but here it is! A viciously hilarious, ingeniously simple and messed up plot that carries our somewhat naive main characters Lloyd and Harry on a long trip to find their newly discovered daughter, and deliver a very important package. And of course, they have an excuse in store for those 20 years we were kept waiting. In the end it goes full circle. A plot around the plot, so to speak.
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are still just as crazy as they were 20 years ago, an impressive feat considering... they're kind of old! But who knows, maybe there's yet another sequel waiting around the next double decade bend. ;) Here's hoping they both live long and luxurious lives!
The humor is the same love it or hate it type as it was in the first movie, but that's just the name for this particular type of jocularity; I can't seem to decide if it's really my type of humor or not. Occasionally it cracks me up, but a few moments later I'm just shaking my head, a big frown crowning my philosophical vortex (that's my forehead).
The bigger laughs are gained in the surprises, in those unexpected moments that tell us there really is more to the script than the characters. All in all it's crazy fun, featuring a unique cast of characters, a unique type of comedy and a plot that's easy to follow. And everyone delivers. Good watch.
