At the start of each year I like to set down a list of things I'll accomplish, and at the end of the year I like to see how far I've come. I usually don't get as far as I'd like, but you never fail till you stop trying right? The past couple of years I've also done a much earlier analysis of where I'm at on the path I've chosen, so... now that we're a month into the New Year, let's how you fare...
(I mean me btw, you just rhymed)
Will Do
- Project 2014 Every day of the year I'm going to write something creative, like a poem, a rhyme or a short story. YEPP
- One Album I'm going to record, produce and somehow distribute at least one original full-length album of my own. NOT YET
- One Book I'm going to write or finish writing a complete literary work, and seek to get it published. NOT YET
- Work I'm going to apply for at least ten jobs every week, unless I get a full-time occupation. ALMOST
Every day, every week, and my inspiration does... oh shit, it just dawns on me I still haven't written anything for today! What a great reminder this turned out to be. :P I've written one now; you can read all the ones posted so far here. At the start I stalled, didn't always feel like writing, but lately the words come naturally. Either I'm in a phase of inspiration or continual writing is become a routine (I hope it's the latter).
Noooope, not yet, not even close, not even started. 11/12ths of the year remain though, and a Djembe drum is on route, and I know a producer in England. There is hope.
The idea is mapped out, and as it happens it is intertwined with my Creative Writing course so I will have deadlines to control that I follow this goal. Worst case scenario, my story doesn't turn into an entire novel, but rather a novella, but that'll be one of many shorter stories I can include in a published collection. I'm definitely getting this goal done this year.
The first week didn't start so well, and after that... the remaining weeks haven't been going well either. I think I've applied for at least five jobs per week, but that is an estimate, I've been searching for potential work at random intervals, and so far only for jobs as an extra in the film industry/commercials/etc. The one job I received last year might've been a big stroke of luck, particularly since it was the first one I applied to, but I can't say I've been incredibly motivated about getting a job either. Motivation = potential success. I need to find an industry niche I am truly passionate about...
Will Become
- Strong! Unless I am absolutely unable to do so, I will walk a minimum of 3km each day, stretch each day and exercise in some other way twice a week. GETTING THERE
- Self-Sufficient! Absolute financial stability is more of a must than a want at this point. NOT YET
- Dentally Trouble-free! I will brush my teeth twice a day. GETTING THERE
- Happy! I will strive towards attaining a mindset that lets me wake up early every day, with a smile, full of hope and vigor. GETTING THERE
I've walked every day. 3km? On average, definitely. Every day, I might've been a kilometer short a day or two. I've been making stretching a habit as of late, but didn't get started from the start. And as for other exercise, 15 sit-ups/3x2 pull-ups minimum on most days, the year has started decently! I'm not in amazing shape yet, but I feel OK.
Nope. Really nope.
Almost! These routines are slowly becoming a part of life, it's not such a boring task once you get used to it, though there have undeniably been days I missed a morning.
Considering I'm not completely out of whack even after my grandma passed away earlier this week, I'd say it's going well. I am thinking positively. Life's pretty good.
And that's it! Next follow-up in another 11/12's of the year. How are resolutions going for you?
