The enemy doesn't play nice. All over town there are rune traps, in which two contestants get locked in. The trap will open once there is only one left. In moments the Fiary Tail members left are more than halved, involuntarily fighting among their own.

Elfman goes down.

Laxus appears in front of Makarov again. Does he feel like giving up? If Makarov just announces through the loudspeaker system that he'll give Laxus the position as master, then the contest will be over.

Btw, Gajeel is locked in too. Dragonslayers not allowed out? Natsu tries heating up Erza's statue to free her, and it crack. Oh crap! Then it breaks completely, and Erza is free! Why? Due to her artificial eye the power of the petrification magic was halved... that's Makarov's guess at least. Time to battle!
