I didn't think too much of this movie the first time I saw it, but this time I was more impressed. It's good action. It's Robert De Niro, Jason Statham, Dominic Purcell and Clive Owen. It's action with intrigue, professional and messy, and you never know which way it's going to go. It's based upon a true story too: The Feather Man, a cover on the cover-ups of secret SAS operations during the Oman War, and this is the story of three children killed in that war, and one assassin hired to avenge them.
It's dusty, grimy, brutal and exotic - all you'd expect it to be if the title wasn't so overkill. The killers really are elite, but the movie is not the massacre the title seems to imply - the sequences of action come and go, and require planning, though sometimes all it takes is a little spontaneity: being in the right place at the wrong time. It's assassination, and a chase, and a cover-up, and revenge, and a select few elite operators tie it all together. Great watch.
