Scottish estate for sale – celebrities need not apply
A Scottish laird has put his island estate up for sale with instructions that celebrities can’t buy it.
Ron Stewart, is selling Dippin Lodge on the Isle of Arran for £850,000.
In one of the adverts in Private Eye magazine, Mr Stewart says his house “would suit privacy-seeking celebrity with impeccable taste”.
It adds: “So that’s Halliwell, Posh, Cilla, Rod, Hucknell & Cowell out for starters.”
The Daily Recordsays another advertisement stated “Heather Mills McCartney can bugger off too”.
Mr Stewart, whose 18-room hunting lodge is set in 50 acres, said he didn’t want the wrong kind of buyer disturbing the island peace.
Selling agent, Bob Brass, of Arran Estate Agents, said: “The adverts are a bit tongue in cheek, but I can assure you the sentiment is heartfelt. It is nothing personal against celebrities – it’s just the baggage that would come with them.”
