No grave flowers, they’re messy!
A council has banned people from putting flowers on their loved ones’ graves because they are “too messy”.
A total of 14 families got letters ordering them to remove all flowers, trees, shrubs, vases, statues and other decorations, reports The Sun.
And they have been warned that contractors will be drafted in to shift the items if they fail to do as they are told by the end of the month.
Calne Town Council in Wiltshire plans to grass over the graves – to make them tidier and cheaper to maintain – and says they can only have a headstone.
Maria Waite, 38, whose dad Peter, 71, is buried in the cemetery, said: “They want to grass the graves over and run a lawnmower over them – but I don’t want a lawnmower going over my father’s grave.”
A council spokeswoman said: “Having a grass area with headstones looks nicer and is easier to maintain.”
