Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind (2022)

I wasn't initially that impressed by this one.

Sure it had violence - almost akin to the classic Heavy Metal movie, but not the most fluent animation otherwise, and there wasn't a lot of sexiness along with the gore, which didn't make it really feel on par with that old classic to me. Not initially. It felt more so like an overly gorified kids animation, in a similar style to say Jackie Chan Adventures or... a lot of other easy-going action animation from around the same time.

I've never been into Mortal Kombat specifically for the fatalities. More so for the characters. And it seemed to be the former they focused most on here - but that does change as you move along! The characters grow on you, and show depth, and are unexpectedly maimed and physically impaired along the way - in different ways.

The villain's a refreshingly uncompromising one too, and when it's all over I feel like this one will stick with me after all.

It was good. It had progression. It had bad-assery. It had a level of sacrifice that felt suitable, too. It's not all sunshine and roses in the MK world...

Hope this is one of more. Intrigued to see what other stories they might showcase in this realm in regard to the other characters.

Though I wonder if they can top this.
