It's been a pretty long time since the last 'Neighbors' movie came out. You can trace its history all the way back to 1981... was what I thought, but this is actually a sequel to the 2014 version with the same title, with this same cast. Maybe the previous was the spin-off? I don't know about the original either way, whichever is the original (the old one seems suspiciously similar), but this one is crazy.
Anything with Seth Rogers is crazy though, so I should've been expecting that. Be wary that there is plenty of crude humor involved, like a baby with a dildo, though after the surprise intro nothing will really surprise you again. It's intense from start to finish, but intensist at start, and a bit more ambient when it's all over. As if the main character couple grow up through the course of the movie, retired, settled down and... I wonder if there'll be a third of these, taking place in a distant future when the lives of everyone involved has been greatly altered and of course majorly messed up - or there would be little plot development to hold onto?
The story here: Mac (that's Seth) and Kelly (Rose Byrne) Radner are trying to sell their house. Shelby and her friends are trying to party, but apparently a Sorority can't party. Only Frats can party. With the help of Teddy (who's recently been kicked out of his house - played by Zac Efron) they find a house, and start their own, and party all night long! And it just so happens this house of theirs is right next to this one other house those other two are trying to sell. What starts out as a mild dispute soon turns into an all out war, and both parties do their worst to evict the other.
It's an at times a bit over-the-top and edge, but all the while entertaining comedy that just doesn't know any limits. A bit similar to 22 Jump Street - but without the action. It didn't have me laughing nearly as much, but it's similar, with a cast that's crazy at best. Good watch.
