Point Break (1991)

I remember watching this movie for the first time in middle or high school, in class, and somewhere in the introductory bust scene when the cops bust in and a naked lady jumps onto the back of one of the officers, her bust swings, and some girl in class lets out a moan of disgust, the teacher said something along the lines of "Just wait", and Toys R Us things. And I think everybody liked it.

Point Break is the story of a cop, and a gang of criminals, about the cop going undercover as a surfer, completely immersing himself in the surf turf, falling in love and becoming a part of this new culture all the while struggling to gather clues and get a lead on this criminal league's next big heist. He chases them, they get away, he parachutes with them, and eventually - at a breaking point by the break, he's forced to make a choice and set his priorities straight.

It's a good movie! It varies the action with relations and warm watery surf scenes flawlessly. Keanu Reeves plays the cop and Patrick Swayze the criminal, and that's all you really need to know. Maybe also that it's not just about a cat and robbers mouse game, but about the system, about life and about what really matters. All of it's message presented in a very straight-forward and unangled way. Good watch!

young Keanu Reeves with wet, semi-long hair = Joseph Gordon Levitt...also who wouldn't quit their job as an FBI agent to become a surfer and staff artist for NewGrounds...

this is a fresh, original action flick amongst the 90s! the antagonist has both a role of a good and bad guy, and the overall theme is unlike others of its era. a memorable soundtrack, and some well done scenes (the surfing footage, the long chase through the neighborhoods, the first skydiving scene)

also, I think this is the liveliest I've ever seen Keanu. Everything from the Matrix and onwards, he's a pretty cold actor.

Hell yeah! :D And interesting, yeah, come to think of it they're surprisingly similar here! Apart from looks though they're pretty different. Different styles. Different sounds. Equally awesome.

Good summary, and I agree. Even when he jumps into the directing role he seems to go for the cold and controlled, or just: not very emotionally unwieldy. Thinking John Wick in regard to directing, and otherwise the somewhat similar action from the same time, like: Speed.
