For the first forty minutes or so of the movie there's barely a shot of action - just soldiers standing around with their guns having intense bouts of witticism and silliness - and when the action commences it really doesn't look that spectacular either!
The script may be impressive - the jokes never end, but the movie itself doesn't seem to have much appeal left over for anyone who's not a fan of the Halo realm already, and I barely know it at all. Never played the games. The visuals are alright, but movements are static and repetitive. Expressions are veiled by mask. The crisis is never entirely impending - even when people die it feels oddly lighthearted. Maybe because they never stop with the jokes. Maybe because the dead still stick around as ghosts.
The final fistfights were better than the gunfights, but overall...
rated 2.5/5: almost not bad
Props to the voice actors though, and everyone involved with the production. It's a big thing. The community's big. The actual product though...
