Chi.mp offered free .mp addresses from 2008 to 2012. I signed up for two, which I never actually used, and I realized while digging through old accounts now that the site was actually gone. The ones I registered back then were craa.mp and bobaxell.mp. Alas, no more!
If you're curious I went through the Wayback and dug up some snapshops of what the service looked like back in the day...

There's not much information about it left online, apart from one company information hub on Crunchbase (/img/4/RIP-Chimp-Crunchbase.png">screenshot in case it disappears), and a few old news articles on other free services by the same crew (a few screens of those people right here).
But why did it disappear? Nobody seems to know. And Bump, the new service mentioned in the latest one of these news articles? This one is no longer either. HereĀ“s an ode to this service now long gone. RIP Chi.mp... along with craa.mp and bobaxell.mp. It was a short but good time.
