Scary Movie 3 (2003)

One more time - and for the last time this time, it's a direct sequel. But instead of school they make it a new location entirely - moving on from the original Screams, to new places and franchises to parody. Most notably? The Ring, Signs and 8 Mile! There's Pamela Anderson too (briefly, in the intro), along with Jenny McCarthy.

Apart from these brief appearances, there are two major new partakers in this franchise: Simon Rex and Charlie Sheen. There are plenty of other notable appearances too, like Fat Joe and Leslie Nielsen, and there's Kevin Hart! From a time before I knew who he was.

They all work together in making this one of (if not the) best segments of the franchise so far, and Simon's character George adds something this series just hasn't had before: a male comedy counterpart. He and Anna Faris are a great match, and the script masterful, with witty dialog that transcends the range of parody. Simple things, like:

George: I got a dream!
Father: What is your dream?
George: To have a dream!

The plot mixes together elements from The Sixth Sense, The Matrix (again), Brokeback Mountain, The Others, Un Chien Andalou (oldest homage yet?), and probably many other plots I don't recognize.

Needless to say the combinations are great, and it's all on a much grander scale and budget than both previous ones. For the longest time I thought this was the 4th movie. Sorry about potential previous statements on the 4th being the best of all. This one, was that one. Even after seeing the two sequels that come after it's beyond comparison: balanced, brutal and hilarious in a way the others just may never be again. Great watch.

Scary Movie 3 (2003)

Pamela Andersson in the intro with this one. :)

You never know who to expect with these movies, though I remember this one... it's the one with the girl fight, with the big ice cream, with the mystery hat, with family values and Charlie Sheen and Simon Rex (Dirt Nasty) - best and most unexpected movie duo ever! It's the one where the script really started to get better. :)

Parody references: The Ring, Sixth Sense, 8 Mile, more Matrix references... something alien?

As far as re-occurring characters go Cindy Campbell's a reporter now, and Brenda's a teacher. The school days are over but it ain't all unfamiliar after all!

The rest of the cast's been massively upgraded. Don't miss Kevin Hart.

We'll you really can't miss Kevin Hart. Not in this one.

There's also Eddie Griffin, Queen Latifa, Leslie Nielsen, Fat Joe, and then the whole entourage getting shot up! RZA, Redman, Raekwon, Method Man, Master P, U-God and Ja Rule too! Had to look up some of 'em. They even made the credit track it seems.

That Harrison Ford cameo too. XD

Best one in the series? Possibly. It's the one I remember the most at least. Suitably chaotic, thoroughly entertaining, chock full of references and well-produced too.

It's a new era with this one. After credits: battle rap track yapp. :)
It's almost doper with only audio...
