Seems like all the classics are coming back again! And once again, it starts just the same. Pretty much, albeit with some all new elements to take it into the new age, like a cellphone.
Remember how in the first they were 'tracking all calls made FROM a cellphone'? It'd take time but there were only so many cellphones available then. And whatever happened to that? Seems they didn't manage that trace after all. Here the phone-related bits are maybe the most modernized; reasonable part.
I do appreciate the little changes, and yet it's familiar enough that you appreciate the nostalgia too.
Re-occurring characters are there, and they all get their own bad-ass moments, and the villains get theirs, and in the end this one is REALLY all about female empowerment. They multiply with the requels huh.
I really am positively surprised by how well they did this, in how they both managed to stay true to the original AND to entertain you again in pretty much the exact same way, with new actors just as good as the earlier ones, and old ones turned all the more bad-ass since.
Only downside? It really is the same thing all over again, and relevant as that may be; a reminder to take ourselves a little less seriously - or to take whatever franchise you're a fan of less seriously - it still is that. It's not new.
Same old same old. But they did it well.
