Seedbox Unlimited Trial

I signed up for a 24 hour trial at seedunlimited.com yesterday. The trial plan came with 3GB space, unlimited bandwidth, a 100mpbs connection and the rTorrent client. It also came with a rapidleech script, anonymous proxy, file manager, FTP & HTTP downloads. The downloads maxed out at 4MB/s and when uploadering through FTP my connection maxed out at my own speed, just below 1MB. I uploaded two files and seeded them all night with a ratio of 26 on one and 9 on the other, a total of 30GB uploaded in half a day! Upload speed seemed to drop only when the amount of seeds increased. The server speeds were never low and never capped.

RAM was however running high all through the trial, at above 90% at its peak and around 40% during the morning. Downloads were cut off twice and I had to start them again, why I don't know, maybe because the space available was running out since it happened both times when about 90% was used up, maybe it's a safety feature. I did not however try to breach the limit, so if that is the reason then it wasn't needed and they should have capped the downloads at maybe 97%, with a smaller marginal.

Downloading all the files via HTTP wasn't the best choice since downloads were split up into many smaller files and a folder could not be downloaded in its entirety. The File Manager had a feature to archive a folder, but it seems it couldn't handle sizes larger than 400MB, so that didn't work either. FTP would've been the best choice but I never got around to using it.

All in all though I'm very satisfied with the service, the signup process was automated (payment via PayPal ... if you don't get a trial) and the account was up and running within minutes. Only username, password and email had to be filled in, and was used for all logins (webdav, FTP, rTorrent, etc). The website interface was simple and the applications were all running the latest version. I don't have much experience with seedboxes so far, but this is the best one I've used, speedy and reliable.

If you're curious, the 24 hour trial is open for anyone who would like to give their services a try. The number of slots is obviously limited however, but if one isn't open when you arrive just check back later and it will be. Also, they limit one trial run per user, but I suppose you can sign up again with a different email if you're not ready to buy a full plan yet. Just don't abuse the system too much, they are as far as I know the only company offering trials so it would be a shame to see it shut down!
