Toriko (2011)

Toriko (2011)

Toriko is all about food. When I started watching it, it reminded me a bit of Yakitate Japan! and some other series about something edible that I can't really recall right now... but though it's reminiscent of series I've watched in the past it's still completely different. Mainly because Toriko is crazy-strong, and he's already crazy strong in the first episode. Luffy (from One Piece) and Toriko do share a few characteristics, and their being crazy-strong is one of them, so it's not strange that the first episode of Toriko was a mashup between the two series, featuring the whole Strawhat Crew and Toriko + Komatsu all together in an adventure on some mysterious/dangerous but also very delicious island. Something that could fit in both worlds. It was a surprisingly wellmade mashup as well, the characters actually go along well together, though no serious is cut out for two main characters with the strong main-character-personality that both Toriko and Luffy air.

A bunch of quick reviews from the old anime page.

2×2=Shinobuden (2004)

It's crazy & filled with ninjas. What else do you need? If you're weak of heart you might want to stay away though... you might die laughing.

Afro Samurai (2007)

This is the short story of the legendary afro-bearing samurai and his path towards avenging his father and defeating number one. In this world there are 2 headbands, number one and number two. The number one resides in atop a mountain, and only the one with the number two headband can fight him. The journey is long and the enemies strong. Voice acting is by famous Samuel Jackson. This is one of extremely few American animated series (with Japanese animation style) that have actually been watchworthy. It consists of 5 averagely sized episodes with many different characters and battles.

Angels Egg (1985)

Window To The World

Angel's Egg is a strange movie. Strange in that there's no conversation, in that the only character (and thus the main character) is a little girl, alone in a big world, running around with a strange egg. The movie title hints that it's the egg of an angel, is it?

In the world around her there's not a soul, at least that's how it starts out (is that some kind of symbolism?), but with time one more character appears, and he joins her in her quest across an abandoned world, buildings still standing, as if time was frozen only for its inhabitants. Read on...

Fairy Tail (2009)

Fairy Tail (2009)

Fairy Tail is an anime I've known about for some time, yet it's only recently (about a week ago) that I decided to start watching it. I was positively surprised from the start and since then it's just been getting better and better, up till a point where I can easily consider it one of my favorite animes. That's something I didn't think I would be saying when I decided to watch it. Getting on my favorite anime list is no small feat. One Piece & Samurai Champloo are the only real favorites I can recall while writing.

The World God Only Knows (2010)

The World God Only Knows

It's been a while since I watched through an anime series. For the past two years I've pretty much only been following the three big animes that still haven't ended that I once started watching, of which I'm catching up on the three latest episodes of every Monday: One Piece, Bleach & Naruto Shippuuden, in order of interest. I decided to try a new anime now that I have so much else to do and I didn't do much thinking, I just settled for the first anime I stumbled upon, which turned out to be 'The Word God Only Knows', and it turned out to be good.
