The Day After Christmas

We ate dinner at seven, spent some family time,
Started with our presents, I think the clock was nine,
A few packets of plight, and suddenly midnight,
Is just around the bend, when will the packing end?

We speeded up the opening and soon came to a close!
I went to bed and spent the new day reading till I chose,
To shut the light - my gut was tight, into a dream I delve,
And wake up early morning, what is the time... it's twelve?!

Get up to steaming porridge, then out into the sun,
One of the winter's wonders within midnight hither comes,
Snow is on the ground now, and minus 9(C) degrees,
The day is bright and peaceful, our Christmas craze has seized.
