The Gathering (2002)

I've seen this one before! I'm sure. The movie feels as reminiscent as all the characters do to the girl. The ghosts that follow; that disappear. Her premonitions. Though both to past and future; we never do figure out why it's both... and why does she appear on the road, in the rain, in the first place? Maybe it's the second chance they speak of...

The dig's done in impressive detail. Unless it's an actual place, in which case this seems all the more morbid. The photos of familiar faces as seen through the ages are of course easy to replicate, or to see similarities in even if they don't exist, but it sure is a spooky premise. It builds well...

The way you see the gathering at every single location towards the end of the film though. Hmm. Really? And with all the tragedies in the world, would this really be the most notable?

The time it takes before the tragedy transpires is bound to be time in which plenty of other tragedies unfold elsewhere, too. The fact that the dig's revealed just as the madness is about to start in that same location is just... strange.

I don't make sense of it, but I like it, and maybe my not making sense of it simply adheres to my lack of faith, and how I don't see the sense in things where there doesn't seem to be any. But overall...

Damn good movie y'all. Atmospheric. Well-made.
