A new kind of Frankenstein falls in love with Count Dracula's daughter.
The colors are SO GOOD. Atmospheric. A little smoke and luminescent background lighting for extra spookiness. I really like the style.
At least when it starts off the set is just so polished, but the further it goes the more I realize that... it may be for a younger audience. The characters are simple. The story's simple. It's all... simple.
But so what? I still enjoy it.
They manage the monster mannerisms well. We follow the Count and his daughter and Frankenstein (I think he's the main character) as they first get acquainted, then lose the Count's castle, then move to the US on Halloween, and there's also a Werewolf with a debt problem and some funky dance movies in the mix...
It's charming, really. It's directed by Rob Zombie - but it's not one of his more violent movies. It's just pleasant. It's ghosts and ghouls and goblins as they were in old cartoons, now more life-like. Acted out by real people.
Like for fun. Like not as a horror movie at all. Like The Addams Family with a more slimmed down cast and less craziness, or Hotel Transylvania but in real life! ...and with a slimmed down cast. The cast's pretty limited.
It ain't the most captivating, but if you have some patience to spare I think you'll enjoy it. The character and scenery design is where it really shines.
The actors do a fine job too.
Great movie.
rated 3.5/5: not bad at all

This was pretty damn interesting. And yet, nobody's spoken! Be the first!
