Tomorrowland (2015)

This movie reminded me of John Carter. It has that same awesome, imaginative, compelling storyline. Memorable characters (all flawlessly acted) and sceneries. And it has that secret ingredient that makes a Disney movie a Disney movie: it has hope! It has a message! It's uplifting and fun to watch, but at the same time it's all but cheesy. I love it.

 rated 5/5: friggin awesome

way too cheesy...I cannot say I enjoyed this movie. Did like John Carter tho, was surprised to find out it was made by Disney. Tomorrowland on the other hand is just sappy, poor storyline, and juvenile. There really wasn't any direct conflict, it was a hypothetical dystopia that was so far away from happening.

Hmm sure you didn't watch this with some Disney prejudice, if you knew this was one before you watched it? I didn't get any of those impressions with this one... the main character being a kid (in part) does add some juvenility to it of course, but didn't seem to get in the way of the experience. Not so much action either but still... you make me doubt those first impressions though. XD Guess I'll have to watch it again eventually; see if the five's truly merited.

there was prejudice, in particular I'm biased as an audience member not in Disney's target market. But at least John Carter offered some despair and emotional connection, George Clooney's start off with a bleak outlook, but that vibe is shortly ruined and never returns...thus no need for hope.

Yeah that's a fair point. Not the same sense of desperation. I feel like the wonder of it all takes over instead though, it's just such an awesome adventure after that. But indeed: not so much tension or emotion.

    Or: not the same emotion.
