If you ever doubt what an impact Tony Hawk's had on the world of skateboarding, just look at this. His dad too, don't forget him.
This documentary really shows his tenacity, and goes from a sad beginning to an old present. They paint a picture of a humble and adventurous but now also aging man.
It's a good portrayal. It's different. It showcases a range.
Tony's no angel, but he's dedicated, and he grew up and blew up during the heyday of skateboarding, running parallel to the other still living legend Rodney Mullen. He made it through a rough patch of time were skateboarding was all but a lucrative business, but just kept at it and here we are, where somehow he's become a household name.
Stay in the game long enough and maybe that's what happens!
Turns out I've seen a lot of his newer skating endeavors somehow, I don't how how I've stumbled across them, but he's lived quite the life! And still does. The trick where he vaults in the air just before he lands at the top of a ramp? He's been doing that since 1986 apparently!!!
I thought it was a new thing. Saw a video of his where he did that in the 2020s, and it was one of most awesome things I've seen done with a skateboard. The crowd went bananas too.
After a while the documentary turns into more contest footage than interview, but I don't mind. It's good material.
Tony Hawk's a legit dude. Would've been interesting to hear more of Riley...

This was pretty damn interesting. And yet, nobody's spoken! Be the first!
