The Transporter 2 (2005)

The CGI was a bit off, and dragging the car against that crane and still having it land on all four wheels... not sure I buy that. Everything else though: woah! It can't get much better than this.

Both plot and action is drastically elevated since the last one. It's no longer about just the little group, but a world-encompassing event - even if they manage to keep it personal anyway by centering on a select few people. It feels heartfelt. The relations come across well. Though I do wonder whatever happened to the girl from the first movie it feels the character has grown since the last one.

The movie goes back to a lot of elements from the first one too, like the cook, the intro, vehicle gadgetry... though none of these little homages or character-related bits require you to watch the first to understand, it does become more enjoyable when you do.

Some fights moves are really reminiscent of the first too, and though sceneries feel similar it also feels like they really took it to Hollywood with this one! Beaches, waves, sunshine... they make the best of it.

I love the chases just as much as I love the action. The girls (especially the psychotic one). The script. It's all perfect. Kate Nauta and Alessandro Gassman play the perfect villain/villainess. This is definitely the best movie of the original Transporter trilogy, hands down - Statham agrees.

Dedicated to the memory of Michael Stone... I didn't notice that bit in the credits before. He was apparently the director of photography, and died in an auto accident on 29 July 2005. RIP. His legacy lives on well with this.

 rated 5/5: friggin awesome
