Turbulence 2 - Fear Of Flying (2000)

The movie starts off with a group training session for people scared of flights. You get to know the characters and their fears, and then one day it's time for the real thing. They buckle their seats and head up in the air on a public flight, most of them scared shitless.

It just so happens that this one plane is carrying an airborne virus and two different groups of terrorists, and these shiftlessly-scared guys are the ones with potential to save the day. Just as with the last movie there is a twist you might not be expecting, there's tension, there's shooting, fighting, an untrained pilot landing the plane, hostage drama... and in addition to that it's about a group of people overcoming their fears and bonding.

The special effects this time around aren't quite as flawless as they were in the last movie. When a missile is about to hit the plane it's easy to see it's a fake, and whereas the last one had some pretty impressive vehicular carnage, with signs and offices getting buckled in during the last moments, this one just has one guy falling through a glass roof.... and they don't really capture the falling motion either. But on the total it's a worthy watch and I'm surprised it's not as known as the predecessor, or as popular, because I believe it was all things amounted even better.

It doesn't have as intense a villain maybe, but it has a good villain, one in many ways more realistic than the last one (due to lack of intensity - maybe). Maybe the lack of reception's due to the lack of plane flying upside down? Or how the guys who are supposed to be really scared of flying overcome their fears with surprising ease? But don't let them bother you, it's another thriller flight; all but plane.

 rated 3/5: not bad
