AKA Ibiza Undead.
We need more British zombie movies!
Shaun of the Dead was great, and though this wasn't nearly on the same level budget or actor-wise - nor as much of a comedy - it felt refreshing in the same way. A zombie movie unlike others in a day and age where the genre sometimes seems all too far gone. With a bit more profanity than the norm. Though surprisingly little nudity all things - especially initial pool scene, plus title, strippers and all - considered.
The movie's about a group of buddies who go on a resort in the middle of an ongoing zombie pandemic - though the zombie situation on the island they're visiting is supposedly okay - and end up having a crazy night full of gruesome encounters.
There's not too much gore but the arm part... oh damn. Almost made me turn away for a moment.
The props are good, the actors are good, but the special effects? I wish they'd cut those out. Blow up a car for real. Get a pyrotechnics expert so the occasional fakery doesn't ruin the movie. Otherwise they manage a lot with both a limited cast and a limited setting.
Feels relevant now too, when pandemonium's sweeping the world and we're all looking for a vacation... you feel right at home here, yet dream away. It's the perfect time; the perfect way.
