Caged Heat (1974)

Prison exploitation films generally have a lot of blood and grime, naked girls and gruesome gore galore. When people refer to the ^ genre, this is probably the one they refer to first, the classic that might even be one to form the genre. And it is with good merit.

This movie is all about girls who get exploited in prison, do things, become friends, get punished, escape, get revenge, and ultimately team up to escape their torment. The plot's both simple and complicated in the tangled web of relationships. It's not a bad movie, but it's really no masterpiece either. It's gritty, violent; sensual... but still I feel it's not all it's hyped up to be. I'd prefer this type of fictional shockumentary over the modern shock-value horror movies any day though, there's a sense of realism here you won't get in new ones, and the actors aren't bad either, but still it doesn't have the pace or eventfulness of the action movies I prefer.
