Wow... I took a lot of pictures of this episode, but there's a lot to take in! Hope it's not too long for yall, this is the introductory episode for the fourth member of the crew. Err, fifth, I mean. Well technically fourth because Nami isn't really part of the crew just yet, but anyway, on with the episode summary...
The first episode with more than one multiple of ten in it appears! So does Johnny, one of Zoros companions from the good old (recent) times when he was a pirate hunter. You remember that rock in the last episode? The one Usopp blew up? That seemed kind of random? Well, it wasn't all that random after all!
As it turns out Johnny was on the rock letting his buddy/companion/pirate hunter Yosaku rest from what seems like an incurable illness when it suddenly gets blown to bits.
Turns out he has scurvy, an illness caused by lack of vitamins, so they feed him some lemons...
... Johnny is eternally grateful...
... they feed him some more lemons...
... and he wakes up!
So they're speaking about how things like this can happen at sea and the need for a chef when Johnny announces that he knows just the right place, the restaurant Baratie!
Crew photo. They decided to blur all the crew characters at this specific part of the episode, so I made sure to capture them all for charactristically blurry character reference. Here ya go!
That's Nami.
Usopp.
Zoro.
Luffy!
The ship. Not blurred, though.
And then, they arrive!
Here's the crew plus Johnny, from a creative angle.
Suddenly a marine ship appears!
The marine Iron Fist Fullbody is on board, and of course he has noticed the flag on the pirate ship, so as he leaves to eat at the restaurant he tells the crew to sink the ship.
While he's doing this Johnny and Yosaku, who don't want to be grouped with the pirates right now, accidentally drop a bunch of Wanted posters in attempt to do themselves justice. Pay attention to the top one, Nami certainly does.
Time for a cannonball.
Luffy tries to bounce back the cannonball but loses grip on the ship and slips and the cannonball flies into the restaurant instead.
Chef Zeff got hit in the head, but he's tough, in other words not dead.
Meanwhile the marine Fullbody is trying to get back at a waiter who is making a fool out of him. The waiter isn't really a waiter though, he's the assistant chef, and he easily evades Fullbodie's attempts at getting back at him until Fullbody resorts to violence and does something unforgivable.
Not that.
Not this either.
Here it is. He wastes food. Meet Sanji, the waiter you don't want to mess with.
And here's Sanji again, from a different angle.
Luffy is trying to negotiate about the hole in the roof. The head chef Zeff wants him to work a whole year, but he has no time for that, and here's a memorable quote:
Messing with a cook of the sea is a good way to get yourself killed.
I think that about sums up this episode. Sail on!
