Day & Dan Bull

Face

source: http://itsdanbull.com/face/

I'm listening to Dan Bulls new album right now. It's one of those albums that gets better the more I listen to. First time I remember thinking it was probably nothing I'd listen to again, but the more I hear it the better it sounds. Lyrically it's genius, Dan mixes words together on Eminem level, but the musical style otherwise is unnaturally soft. I'm used to speedy and almost dubstep/techno/rock hiphop lately. Not very used to British hiphop either, but rhythmically it's surreal, and the songs are both cleverly versed and packed with puns and comedy. It's a great album, it's called Face, and it's available for free on Dan Bulls website right here.

I listened to his first album a couple of years ago, Safe. The new one is obvious wordplay with the old one, and I suppose it symbolically marks the exit of a phase and the start of a new one. Wonder what the next album will be called, Cafe maybe? :D

While listening to the album I'm working on the site. I'm putting together a Stuff category for everything on the stuff page, and so far it's going good, I've managed to script a linked thumbnail view of all the entries. I probably need to do something about the posts themselves though as they're completely empty. They're not reachable directly, but it's not like they're hidden either. Shortly you'll be aboe to browse the category right here, but there's much to do still. If you click the link too early you'll stumble upon the directory instead of the category, where all the thumbnails will be linking. Yupp, the site is growing complicated.

Otherwise? Been programming today, for course, of course, and for the final course of the day we ate some fried salmon and cooked potatoes. Delicious. :) Have to save some time for Pokemon too, on with the work now, later.

Your Time Is Limited, Don’t Waste It...

Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinion drown your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

I'm not a big Steve Jobs fan JSYK, but he does have his moments.

First They Ignore You. Then They Laugh At You...

First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.

There Are Only Two Ways To Live...

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.

People I Respect, Revised

This is a follow-up on this post. Thinking about whom I truly respect in life takes a bit of thinking, but here are my conclusions this year:

  • Jackie Chan

Did the list just get a whole lot shorter? It did, by half exactly. And why? Aren't there enough reputable people in this world? What's going on? Is this the end of humankind as we know it?

I heard about Buddhist monks in Japan collecting radioactive dirt after the nuclear plant disaster, and placing it in their temple, because there's just no other place to put it. People are still living in the danger zone, because there just isn't enough space in the country to move out and let it be. Those monks surely won't survive very long. I'm touched by their sacrifice, but at the same time angry that they, the good guys, are the ones who will be suffering most after this disaster.

The people really responsible for building the nuclear plant are far away, probably living in a dream house, probably wading in money and just lying low waiting for things to cool down. I hope they're ashamed of themselves. And btw, those monks, if anyone deserves to be in the list above. It's them.

As for Jackie Chan? He seems like a decent person, all the way through.

My Old List Of 99 Things To Do

  1. Do everything else before making a pointless to-do list with 99 things in it.

Oh wait... it never gets old. :P
